Designed for a luxury waterfront residence in New York, this project called for a privacy solution that could complement the open architectural design of the property while preserving uninterrupted panoramic water views.
The homeowners wanted to maintain the clean, modern appearance of the exterior terrace without introducing traditional privacy systems that would permanently obstruct visibility or add unnecessary visual weight to the space. The challenge was to create privacy only when desired, while keeping the environment open, bright, and connected to the surrounding waterfront landscape throughout the day.
To achieve this, PriWatt™ switchable privacy glass was integrated directly into the exterior railing system. In its transparent state, the railing system maintains a fully open view of the waterfront and surrounding skyline, preserving the minimal aesthetic of the residence. When privacy is required, the glass transitions instantly into a frosted state, creating a discreet private outdoor environment at the touch of a button.

The railing system was manufactured in the USA using fully certified laminated safety glass construction engineered for exterior performance, durability, and long-term reliability in demanding residential environments. Every panel was fabricated to meet the project’s architectural and safety requirements while maintaining optical clarity and a seamless frameless appearance.
